Kathmandu – The Global Federation for Nepali Literature Central Committee on Thursday honored Non Resident Nepalese Association (NRNA) President Shesh Ghale with the Best Rescuer Honour for contribution in rescuing the victims of the massive ‘Gorkha Earthquake’ which struck Nepal on April 25.
Ghale termed the honour as the first and most important in his life and expressed desire on behalf the NRNA to work with the Federation.
The Federation also felicitated Armed Police Force (APF) constable Krishna Bahadur Basnet for his bravery and instant reaction on saving those who had fallen victim to the earthquake. The Federation also honoured nurses Jasa Maya Jirel and Sharada Shrestha and volunteer and rescuer Babrim Kumar KC with cash prize of Rs 25,000 each.
On the occasion, winners of the Open World Wide Poem Competition held by the Federation were also conferred awards and cash prizes. Prof Dr Govinda Raj Bhattarai conferred award to Sandesh Subba, who came first in the competition. Likewise, Punam Thakur was conferred a cash prize of Rs 5,000 for coming first in the Maithali language poem competition and Rs 5,000 to judge Thakur Belbase. -RSS (photo Raj Subba)
